TURÓ DE LA SEU VELLA CONGRESS

March 18, 19 and 20, 2026

If you are a scholar of the Seu Vella,

If you are a scholar of the Seu Vella,

Isidro G. Bango Torviso

(Ferrol 1946-Madrid 2025)

He was a key figure in the historiography of medieval art and one of the main specialists in medieval Hispanic architecture. Professor of History of Ancient and Medieval Art at the Autonomous University of Madrid, his research stood out for the rigorous analysis of construction processes, the functionality of spaces and the historiographical interpretation of Romanesque and Gothic architecture.

His connection with the Seu Vella of Lleida was particularly relevant. His participation in the 1991 congress represented a turning point in the academic understanding of the complex, highlighting the decisive role of the cathedral in the definition of late Romanesque in the peninsula. His contribution has become an essential reference for the study and interpretation of the monument.

New corporate identity

Imagotip-vertical

The Càtedra Turó Seu Vella presents its new corporate identity, a necessary change that reflects its commitment to growing and strengthening this space dedicated to the research, management, and enhancement of heritage.

This visual renewal combines line and matter, structure and interpretation: a perspective that encompasses both the monument and the surrounding area, establishes a dialogue between past and present, and understands the Seu Vella as a living heritage, open to new interpretations.

This transformation reflects an evolution in the Chair’s objectives and lines of work, which are committed to ongoing research, open to a multidisciplinary perspective that integrates research, management, knowledge transfer, and community outreach, with the aim of reinterpreting, generating new narratives, and actively contributing to the appreciation of Turó de la Seu Vella as a living heritage site.

This new identity is, therefore, a declaration of intent: to continue building knowledge, broadening perspectives, and projecting Turó de la Seu Vella into the future, without losing sight of its roots or its history.
